Although the main focus of environmental performance in buildings is now on carbon usage, there is still a need to consider thermal performance of the building fabric as a contributing factor.
Thermal performance is measured in terms of heat loss, and is commonly expressed as a U-value. U –Value calculations will invariably be required when establishing construction strategies.
U-value calculations evaluate the thermal performance of a building element and current UK Building Regulations require definitive thermal performance obtained by a building’s elements, such as a roof, floor or wall.
Superglass U-value calculations are carried out in accordance with BRE443: Conventions for U-value Calculations and can be submitted with the necessary Building Control applications to demonstrate full compliance.
The Superglass Technical team can provide U-value calculations free of charge where Superglass products are being used.
